Smoking Less Popular in the Movies

Humphrey Bogart never seemed to be without a cigarette on the big screen, and a generation of men in the 1940s learned a romantic move when Paul Henreid put two between his lips, lit them both and handed one to Bette Davis in Now, Voyager.

Film directors' dependence on cigarettes as a style setter is lessening. While Sigourney Weaver's smoking in 2009's Avatar sparked controversy, the number of tobacco-related incidents fell by almost half in last year's top movies, compared with 2005.

A MEMPHIS man is facing aggravated assault charges for shooting a teenager in the buttocks after he refused to pull up his baggy pants.

Kenneth Bonds, 45, was charged on two counts of assault on Saturday and was being held on $25,000 bond.

Bonds fired shots at two teenagers, ages 16 and 17 after he yelled at them to pull up their baggy pants and the teens refused.

The Hunger Games Review

Suzanne Collins

New Zealand is so under-privileged. It seems we have to wait months for cool stuff to be released in this country! I had been waiting for sooooo long for Mockingjay the final volume in the epic, awesome, un-put-down-able Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. A knight in shining armor called Sir 'Marbecks' finally rescued me from my torment! I have now read all three books and it really is hard to describe just how much of an awesomeness quotient this series has.

Friends help. That's conversations, hugs, coffee, holidays. A recent study about the impact of relationships on health found people had a 50% better survival rate if they belonged to a social group- friends, neighbours, relatives, or a mix. Doctors say we need to take loneliness as seriously as drinking or not exercising.

Sarah is being stalked...

internet safety youth cyber bullying stalking theft

Sarah is a pretty active internet user. She’s a regular in chat rooms, often posts info in discussion groups and has visited a heap of websites. She meets some pretty interesting people online as well, people with similar interests…sport, music, movies and stuff like that.

So when some guy follows her through cyberspace, she’s pretty freaked out. He emails her, posts comments about her in chat rooms and has somehow found out her mobile phone number.
