Interview with the Architects- last one!Interview with the Architects- last one!

Here is the last of our best selling trilogy, hopefully this has got you thinking. But if it’s boggled your mind speak up and ask, coz as awesome as we are, we aren’t psychic just yet.

Q: Rhiannon was wondering about some sort of barrier between the library space and the main lounge in the ground floor, so that you could sit in either space, without hearing other people. Like a physical barrier. Do you guys think that’s possible?
A: If it’s for visual- it’s simple. If it’s for sound proofing it’s very hard, because sound travels all over the place and bounces a lot. Unless, you could make it out of fabric or something and temper the unwanted acoustics.

Q: And that’s what the lights are for as well isn’t it?
A: The big fabric lights are to soften the reverberations or acoustics in the room.

Q: Does that work?
A: It will work. We’d like to take further steps, but again it’s the budget. It’s a very cheap option, and a very effective solution. And it looks cool too, so yeah.

Q: So what kind of style of architecture usually inspires you? Or is it just kind of everything?
A: Every style inspires you, it's just that little aspects or little parts of different buildings, jobs you've done before and you sort of just add it all together. Ah, I guess if I, sum it up in a style, I'd say contemporary modern.

Q: And just for those aspiring architects out there, what kind of tips would you give them? How to start and stuff?
A: Work hard. Its 8 years worth; five year degree, three year intern. It's very, very hard work. But if you're passionate about design, go for it.

Q: What subjects would you take at school do you think?
A: I think it's all changed now. Like I got told that physics was very important, but I'm not a physics man. You don't have to be good at design or art, but it really really helps. It's gonna give you heaps of benefits through the years.

There it is. If you have ideas for the next lot of interviews let us know, or if you just have a bunch of questions- let us know that too. Thanks for reading!
